Oldemorstugu
An authentic log cabin from 1900, renovated to modern standards
Welcome
A place to slow down
The log walls have stood since 1900. Inside you will find a fireplace, a sauna and a long table seating nine, and outside lie the lake and the mountain plateau.
The cabin originally stood as a log house down in Kvisla, where great-grandmother and all her children lived. In 1964 it was moved to Karistøltangen, where it stands today, and in 2003 it was extended and modernised.

Summer

Location
High in the mountains, 20 minutes from Geilo
Oldemorstugu sits on Karistøltangen at Haugastøl, around 1,000 metres above sea level, where the Hallingdal valley meets the Hardangervidda plateau. It is quiet up here, the light is clear, and the snow comes early and stays late.
You are out in the open mountains, yet everything you need is close by. Geilo, with its ski slopes, restaurants and shops, is just a short drive away, and the cabin lies halfway between Oslo and Bergen, along Route 7 and the Bergen Railway. The railway is part of Norway in a Nutshell, so you can take a day trip over the mountains to Finse, Myrdal and the Flåm Railway.

Nordic Cabin
Laid-back lounge music made for that cabin feeling, set to calm drone footage of the mountains and lakes around the cabin. Soft tunes and no hurry at all. Perfect for breakfast in the bay window, card games and long evenings by the fireplace.

Nordic Lullabies
Gentle sleep music for the children. Once the little ones have drifted off in the family bunk, it is the grown-ups’ turn by the fire. Guaranteed peace and quiet in the loft, well, almost.
